Why do we need First Aid Training?
First aid training is so important in today's world because injuries or illnesses can occur anytime and anywhere. Having trained individuals who can provide immediate medical attention to the injured person before professional medical help arrives is crucial. The benefits of having first aiders are numerous, the most significant are those that follow the “three P’s” principle;
- Preserve Life
- Prevent injuries from Worsening
- Promote Recovery
Recently, Naomi, our accounts manager who is trained in first aid (obviously!), attended her young daughter's Winter Dance Show organised by local business LS School of Dance. Unfortunately during the show one of the dancers fell and banged her head, becoming dizzy and disorientated. Naomi rushed out from the audience to offer her help, alongside the chaperones and other first aiders backstage. She knew to advise that the emergency services should be called and stayed with the child to monitor her condition until they arrived.
Thanks to the quick thinking and training of Naomi and other first aiders on-site, the emergency services arrived and provided the necessary medical attention to the injured dancer. The “three P’s” approach meant that the situation was managed and the patient was later discharged with strict instruction to rest and further medial advice for the forthcoming days.
In conclusion, the incident involving the injured dancer highlights the importance of first aid training demonstrating that incidents can happen at any time and usually when least expected! It is an invaluable skill that can make a difference between life and death. We should all consider taking first aid training to ensure that we can provide immediate medical attention to those in need. We wish the injured dancer a speedy recovery and commend Naomi for her quick thinking and decisive action in a challenging situation.
