About

The First Aid Box Training & Event Solutions have been delivering quality and affordable First Aid training since it was formed in 2011. We have developed our range of courses in line with the needs our customers and are proud to offer a range of First Aid, Mental Health, Food Safety and Health & Safety training courses delivered both at our dedicated venue in Driffield or on-site.

Our small team of highly experienced trainers are passionate about First Aid and all “work” within the medical industry to ensure that they are fully up to date with real life techniques and practices. All our staff have undergone relevant DBS checks & have current Safeguarding training.  We pride ourselves on delivering quality and professional training with the backing and accreditation of one of the largest awarding organisations within the UK for First Aid and Health & Safety qualifications Qualsafe. Our achievement rate and feedback speaks for itself and our continuing accomplished relationships with many local organisations is something we endeavour to maintain and we like to think is fully sustained by the quality service we provide.

We know how important it is for staff to be doing what they are employed to do and that training can sometimes interfere with day to day business requirements however, we also know how important it is to ensure that staff are trained sufficiently in order to do their job and to meet legislative guidelines. We offer a flexible approach to our training and can arrange delivery to suit you and your business needs. Our public courses tend to run during normal business hours however we are able to train at weekends, in the evenings, early mornings and even overnight if this is more appropriate for your staff.

Meet the team

Bruce Dougal - Owner & Lead Trainer

I have worked in both paid and volunteer roles in the First Aid and Events market for 25+ years. During that time I have developed my own skills both in the delivery of high quality care and training. I pride myself on be able to deliver fun, engaging and interactive training in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. I am keen for our training practice to remain current and relevant and ensure the team have access to training and development sessions as well as keeping abreast of industry movements.  I formed The First Aid Box in 2011 and it has been a privilege to see its development and success and watch its continued growth going forward.

Harry Vines - Clinician & Trainer

I have been involved with the prehospital medicine sector since early 2014, with roles varying from event cover within the voluntary sector to clinical and managerial roles in the private sector. Despite completing my first degree in Archaeology, I am currently a Student Paramedic with Sheffield Hallam University and Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust. I have been a qualified trainer since 2015, and my key interests within first aid and clinical training include the cardiovascular system, life support and minor injuries, alongside a strong belief in enabling as many people as possible to have the opportunity to learn basic first aid and lifesaving skills.
In my free time, I enjoy long walks, and I am a keen saxophonist and a lover of musicals!

Emma Gates - Administration Manager, IQA & Trainer

I have an accomplished work history in administration and marketing as well as timed served within a training environment - What I lack in First Aid knowledge I make up for in computer wizardry! I pride myself on my personable skills and my aptitude for concise communication as well as my ability to organise. I am responsible for the delivery of our Food Safety qualifications having worked in that industry for a number of years and  I am a qualified Internal Quality Assessor and through regular trainer assessments ensure that we are up to date with the latest information and techniques and that our high quality standards are consistently maintained.

I am a qualified teacher, assessor and verifier and currently work as an end-point assessor for the new apprenticeship standards. I endeavour to work at least one shift a week as a nurse caring for older people living with advanced dementia to keep my skills current and as something I am passionate about. In my spare time I enjoy watching rugby and often volunteer as a match First Aider and Sport Massage for a local Rugby union team.
