CARE QUALITY COMMISSION (CQC)

The Care Quality Commission is an executive and independent public body of the Department of Health & Social Care. Established in 2009, the organisation was set up to regulate and inspect Health & Social Care services in England. They have produced a list of regulated activities and it is law to register with the CQC if you carry out any activities on this list.

The First Aid Box Training & Event Solutions provides First Aid support at events. We do NOT provide any regulated activities as identified by the CQC and the activities we do provide are classed as EXEMPT. This is clearly documented in The Scope of Registration (July 2012) under the OTHER EXEMPTIONS heading that states:

"FIRST AID BY FIRST AID ORGANISATIONS OR NON-HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS WHO ARE TRAINED IN FIRST AID OR BY HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS IN UNEXPECTED OR POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS REQUIRING IMMEDIATE ACTION"

The full document can be found here.

We make it clear in our booking documents that we DO NOT provide patient transfer off site and should this need arise, patients will be directed to the nearest Urgent Care Centre. If transport under emergency driving conditions are required then a statutory 999 ambulance will be requested from the local ambulance service.

We do however have a strong working relationship with several local providers of patient transfer companies and are able to work in partnership with them and utilise their services should this be a requirement of your event.
